Well, I am shocked to see how many responses we got to “Ted Licking and Chewing” post. We are becoming to find out that this is a common problem with alot of wheatens. After about 18 months of diet changes, allergy pills, hot spot creams and varities of shampoos we have finally decided that its time to take matters into a doctors hand. Ted has his allergy test scheduled for next Tues. From there we will be able to detect his specific allergies so that we can treat with the proper allergy medicine. The test is on the expensive side…$450. We really don’t care about the $$ right now….our Ted needs our help. Wish us luck and please stayed tuned for his results.

Our soft coated wheaten terrier named Ted has alittle issue going on. As you can see in the pictures see has alot of redness on his front paws due to a ton of licking, scratching and chewing. We have tried almost everything to help him and nothing has seemed to work. We’ve tried all the creams, changed his diet to be wheat free and have put him on antihistamines. We aren’t sure if its allergies or obbsessive compulsive. His skin isn’t really all that irritated under his hair, but he will not stop chewing!

Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone else’s Wheaten Terriers carry this habit? I really want my poor guy to stop :(
